America Day 22 & 23 - Amarillo, Santa Fe and Albuquerque
Really two small, not highly eventful days! Just lots and lots of driving to get us closer and closer to VEGAS!!!
DAY 22
We didn't even leave the state of Texas but managed to drive for an entire day! A bonus was that we arrived at the real cowboy town of Amarillo. It was really cool because the hotel we stayed at was very cowboy Texas themed.
The Big Texas Steak Ranch
My big Texas bed
We went for dinner that night and I had a a really nice Texas steak. Three people also took on the steak challenge! They had to eat over 2kg of meat, a massive baked potato, a side salad, a shrimp cocktail and a roll.
All the food that has to be consumed in 1 hour of less
My roommate Carly eating her massive steak!
Well no one got through the whole meal! Not surprisingly! But my roommate Carly got through the most. It was a 72oz Steak and she only had 15oz left at the end! Plus she ate half her roll, all her side salad and her shrimp cocktail. She was amazing!
It was a really cool restaurant though. It had stuffed animals everywhere, a shooting range and lots of slot machines (although you couldn't win real money).
Big scary bear!
Then it was a couple of beers and off to bed! Ready for a very early morning start the next day through New Mexico.
DAY 23
ANOTHER massive driving day. Well, actually not really, we did stop in Sante Fe for ages but it was so cold and small and boring that I wish we just kept driving!
We started the day visiting the Cadillac Ranch. This is exactly what it says it is. A big ranch that has Cadillac's planted on it.
I don't think they grow though...
Our tour manager gave us lots of spray paint and we were all allowed to leave out mark on the Cadillacs. I thought it was kind of cool.
My tag! Leesa was at Cadillac Ranch!
Just another photo of my new favourite ranch
Then it was off to Sante Fe! It reminds me of the old western movies. It is very mexican. We had the best ever fajitas on the street and just chilled out in the park.
The buildings in Sante Fe
Just chilling in the park at Sante Fe with Keri and Laura
Then it was onwards to Albuquerque which is a really beautiful drive as the sun sets!
Oh so pretty!
Tonight in Albuquerque we are having dinner and then going straight to bed because we have a really early morning tomorrow for hot air ballooning! YAY!!
