America Day 15 16 & 17 - Tallahassee & New Orleans

Day 15

I literally have nothing exciting to say about this day. We were on the bus for the whole day and didn’t stop anywhere exciting all long the way. We spent the night in Tallahassee. Apparently Tallahassee is in Florida but it got cold, rainy and nothing like Miami and Orlando! We ate out and then went to sleep for an early morning rise for another long bus ride to New Orleans.

Some lovely people off my tour starting from left Beth, Keri, Me, Jennifer, Leoni, umm I kinda forget the other girls names... opps :(

Day 16

Another long day on the bus. We did stop in Alabama on the way to New Orleans. It was quite cool to listen to “Sweet Home Alabama” as we drove into Alabama. We stopped at the USS Alabama ship. It was kind of cool. Although I think I am sick of ships, planes and other things like that! They are everywhere in America.

Well, I didn't really take a photo of the ship but this was the bell... yeah not that exciting!

Also not the ship but kind of a cool tank

After finally arriving in New Orleans we got all dressed up and ready to hit the infamous Bourbon Street! Oh my god… New Orleans is my new favourite place in the world. It is absolutely indescribable. I will let some of the pictures show how much fun Bourbon Street is…

Love the honesty

What more could you want?

I LOVE NEW ORLEANS!!!

Cheers to the Hand Grenades!

So you may be able to see some of the fun that was had on Bourbon Street. The Green Hand Grenade drinks that you see we are drinking are only available at special bars call Tropical Isle. Apparently what is in them is a secret recipe. This should have been the first sign not to drink these drinks. The second sign is that they come with a warning.

1 drink = happy buzz
2 drinks = drunk
3 drinks = lose all self control
4 drinks = people get naked
5 drinks = well, they don’t recommend 5

As well as all the other drinks, I made it to 4 hand grenades! Thankfully I didn’t follow the rule and kept my clothes on BUT I definitely did things that I normally wouldn’t. Example:

Oh my lord!!

Even drunk I look scared!

Then  I got good at it!

Then  not so good!

But I was all good!

Yes I am a disgrace! I am the only girl who rode the bull and apparently rode it longer then the other two boys who gave it ago. I am so glad that I was very intoxicated though because I do not think it is something I would like to fully remember!

I later learned that those hand grenade drinks have Midori, Everclear and pineapple juice. I think it was the pineapple juice that pushed me over the edge. For those of you who are not familiar with what Everclear is I also learnt the following information. If standard spirits like Vodka, Bourbon, Rum etc, are 40-60% alcohol, Everclear is from 75-90% alcohol. No wonder I had an extremely bad hangover the next morning.

DAY 17

I stayed in bed the next day until 12.30. The only reason I managed to get out of bed at that time is because at 1 we had to meet the group for an airboat tour through the swamps. I am glad I did manage to get out of bed. It was so much fun.

We hopped on a big airboat and went through the swamps. This in itself was beautiful.

Ahhh... This actual area apparently was the inspiration for the Disney movie 'The Princess and the Frog'

We look so cool right here... Just Sayin'

Then when we stopped in the swamp the tour guide was describing what people like to hold in their photos. He held up an alligator hook, an ore and then went to grab a beer from the eski and pulled out a real alligator which he practically through at me! I have never screamed so loud in my life. Shortly after me and Elvis (the alligator) were best friends. Now I know dad that you said not to get that close to Alligator again so these next few pictures might disgrace you.

Isn't he cute!!!!

I kissed the King of Rock n' Roll

The tour guide then went to put the alligator back in the eski but I didn’t want poor Elvis to have to be in there all alone. So me and Keri held him for the rest of the tour.

Ohh... I wanted to take him home

After the Airboat we went back to the hotel, got changed and went out for dinner… to BUBBAGUMPS! Oh my god, so much fun. The whole place is themed off the Forrest Gump movie.

Mama always said life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get

Playing ping-pong at BubbaGumps

When your table was fine and didn't need service you would leave the sign on this but if you needed another drink or anything you would flip it over and it would say " Stop Forrest Stop"

These little saying were all over the tables we were eating on.

Bubbagumps was so much fun! It is like instead of touring America we are touring Forrest Gump things. It's awesome because I love that movie. After dinner we went to a local jazz bar. This was in the more local area. It was really amazing to experience that culture. I could go to places like that every night if I lived in New Orleans. The atmosphere was really chilled out and fun.

I love their simples rule... Be nice or leave!

Awesome jazz atmosphere

Just some more lovely people Tony (he's kind of weird), Carly (my room mate), me and Melissa

The it was home and to bed… ready for a big big drive all the way to MEMPHIS!!! Can't wait to see the other King of Rock n' Roll just not looking forward to the 7 hour drive.

“And that’s all I got to say about that” – Forest Gump
